Overview
The Nikon SMZ445 and SMZ460 are compact, high-performance stereo zoom microscopes designed for general observation, routine lab work, quality-control and inspection tasks. Their lightweight, Porro-prism-based optical design delivers crisp, high-contrast, true-erect images, while the ergonomic zoom system allows smooth variation from low to moderate magnification, making them versatile tools for viewing a wide variety of specimens — from Petri dishes, plants, insects, small animals, minerals to electronic parts and materials. The long working distance and optional auxiliary objectives further enhance flexibility, enabling ease of manipulation (e.g. with tweezers or dissection tools) or adaptation for larger or uneven specimens. With optional LED illumination stands featuring both transmitted and incident light, these models strike a balance between optical performance, ergonomic design, and cost — ideal for laboratories, educational settings, or industrial inspection environments where reliability and clear imaging are needed without excessive complexity.

Key Features & Advantages (for both models)
-
Compact, lightweight design: Thanks to Porro-prism optics, both SMZ445 and SMZ460 remain compact and easy to handle while delivering reliable stereoscopic images.
-
High-quality optics: Multi-coated lenses ensure bright, high-contrast, flat-field images — suitable for biological, mineral, or material observations.
-
Flexible working distance & specimen handling: Standard 100 mm working distance enables safe manipulation of samples (e.g. with tweezers, pipettes, etc.), while auxiliary objectives extend working distance or magnification.
-
Ergonomic viewing options: Two models with different eyepiece inclinations (45° and 60°) allow selection based on user comfort or setup requirement.
-
Adaptable magnification range: From low magnification for overview to higher magnification (up to ~70× for SMZ445) for detailed inspection, by changing eyepieces or adding auxiliary lenses.
-
Suitable for broad application range: From biological specimens (plants, insects) to small animals, minerals, materials, electronic parts — ideal for labs, education, QC, industrial inspection.
